Abstract
A greenhouse has a structure as shown in Fig 1 and Fig 2 the shape of which and the rigidity of which can be adjusted using the support lines 14 and the sliding adjusters 15. Once erected water can be channelled through the double lined cross-linked plastic frame to any point on the inside surface of the enclosed space for irrigation purposes. <IMAGE>
Description
GIUSENIIOUSE This invention relates to a greenhouse with inbuilt irrigation system.
Greenhouses are well known structures which comprise a method of enclosing a space to enhance the growing of plants using the"greenhouse effcct".
According to the present invention there is provided a greenhouse type structure comprising a glass reinforced plastic(G.ll.P)support frame incorporated in a covering of double lined cross-linked plastic sheeting,means for adjustable securing of the support frame to the yround or base of the structure and hence ineans for making the structure rigid by making.use of the inherent flexible properties of glass reinforced plastic-the structure once erected provides means for water to be channeled arround the structure through the plastic shecting for irrigation purposes..
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows in perspectiveXthe greenhouse in position on the base frame;
Figure 2 illustrates the support lines;
Figure 3 illustrates tie glass reinforced plastic rods iiicorporated in the plastic sheeting and indicates how water may be channeled;
Figure 4 illustrates the glass reinforced plastic rods incorporated in the plastic sheeting and indicates how water may be channeled.
Referring to the drawing the greenhouse comprises a glass reinforced plastic frame 12 incorporated in a doublelined cross-linked plastic sheeting 11 mounted on a base frame as shown in Fig 1.
The glass reinforced plastic frame is secured by applying tension through the support lines 14 (Fig 2) which can be varied using the sliding adjusters or similar means (not shown).
To errect the structure glass reinforced plastic rods are inserted into the plastic sheeting as shown in Fig 3 and Fig 4.The now flexible cover is mounted on the base frame by,f or example bolts or similar means (not shown). The support lines are attatched to the
glass reinforced plastic rods,at appropriate positions and secured to the yround by peg 516 Water can be channeled through the cross-linked plastic by introducing water at pressure to the base of the frame 17 and fitting a nozzle or similar device (not shown to the inside top of the frame,allowing the water to irrigate the enclosed space from the inner surface.
Claims (4)
1A greenhouse type structure comprising a glass reinforced
plastic support frame incorporated in a covering of
double lined cross-linked plastic sheeting means for
adjustably securing the support frame to the yround or base of the structure and hence means for makiny
the structure rigid by making use of the inherent
flexible properties of glass reinforced plastic
the structure once erected provides means for water
to be channeled arround the structure through the
plastic sheeting for irrigation purposes.
2 A greenhouse type structure as claimed in claim 1 wherein means are provided to adjust the rigidity
and shape of the structure by incorporating glass
reinforced plastic in the covering walls of the structure
and applying tension to the glass reinforced plastic.
3 A greenhouse type structure as claimcd in claim 1 or
claim 2 wherein water can be channeled through the
plastic sheeting and directed to any part of the surface
of the greenhouse type structure as required.
4 A greenhouse type structure substantially as described
herein with reference to figures 1-4 of the accompanying
drawing.
