Four first pictures 26 may be heat transferred or screen printed on to the rear surface 24 to occupy quadrants. The lenticular zones 34 may lie in a combination of directions and each has a width equal to the width of a strip 28 plus the spacing 30. <IMAGE>

Description

CHANGEABLE PICTURES DISPLAY SYSTEM The present invention relates in general to changeable pictures display system and in particular to changeable pictures display system having a first picture being printed on a rear surface of a substantially rigid and transparent panel and a second picture being removably abutted against the rear surface thereof whereby the second picture is readily replaceable and wherein only one of the pictures is viewable from the front surface of the panel at any angle.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a changeable pictures display system which allows more than one pictures to be displayed while having only one picture being viewable at any one time.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a changeable pictures display system which allows at least one of the pictures to be readily replaceable.
Yet another object of the invention is to produce a changeable pictures display system which is conspicuous and is adapted to be applicable to advertisement or eye-catching display stand or the lie.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a changeable pictures display system which is easy to manufacture and low in cost.
According to the present invention, there is provided a changeable pictures display system, comprising a substantially transparent panel having front and rear surface; a first picture being mounted to the rear surface of the panel; a second picture being removably abutted against the rear surface of the panel whereby the front surface of the second picture is disposed in facial relation with the rear surface of the panel;
the first picture being disposed in the form of parallel and closely spaced strips
a plurality of lenticular zones being provided integrally on the front surface of the panel parallel to the strips of the first picture whereby only one of the first and second pictures is viewable from the front of the panel at any angle; means for urging the second picture against the panel yet allowing the second picture to be readily replaceable; and frame means for holding the panel, the second picture and the means into position for display purposes.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein: Figure 1 is an exploded view of the changeable pictures display system according to the present invention.
Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary view thereof.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary longitudinal sectional view of the changeable pictures display system in accordance with the present invention.
Referring now in more detial to the drawing, in which like reference numerals represent like parts throughout the several views, Figure 1 shows a changeable pictures display system designated generally by reference numeral 10.
The system 10 comprises a panel 12 which is made from transparent material and preferably from transparent plastic material of relatively rigid structure. The panel 12, according to the preferred embodiment, has an upper longitudinal edge 14, a lower longitudinal edge 16, a, first side edge 18 and a second side edge 20. The side edges 18, 20 are disposed transversely to the upper and lower longitudinal edges 14 and 16 such that the panel 12 has a generally rectangular configuration.
The panel 12 has a front surface 22 and a rear surface 24. Provided on the rear surface 24 of the panel 12 is an image or picture 26 serving as a primary picture of the changeable pictures display system 10. The picture 26 is disposed in the form of parallel and closely spaced lines or strips 28 covering substantially the entire area of the rear surface 24 of the panel 12 bounded by the longitudinal and side edges 14, 16, 18 and 20 thereof (see Figure 2).
The image or picture 26 may be in the form of monochrome picture or colored picture. The picture 26 may be trasferred to the rear surface 24 of the panel 12 by means of, for example, heat transfer process. The picture 26 may also be printed on the rear surface 24 of the panel 12 by means of screen printing method. The heat transfer process and the screen printing method are conventional methods known to those skilled in the art and will not be described herein in detail.
A photograph or picture 32, serving as a secondary picture of the changeable pictures display system 10, is adapted to be removably abutted against the rear surface 24 of the panel 12 which is substantially of the same size as the photograph or picture 32.
The thickness of the panel 12 is preferably lmm2mm. The thickness of the panel 12 is basically governed by the size of the panel 12 used or, more precisely, by the size of the pictures to be displayed. The material selected is of a transparent medium having a rigid structure such that any undesired distortion or damage to the panel 12 itself or to the image or picture 26 printed on the panel 12 can be prevented.
Each of the pictures 26, 32 may consist of more than one pictures. For example, each of the pictures 26, 32 may contain four pictures each occupying a quadrant of the pictures 26, 32.
A plurality of lenticular zones 34 are provided integrally on the front surface of the panel 12. These lenticular zones 34 are defined by a series of parallel longitudinally extending elongated regions each having a convex transverse section. The lenticular zones 34 are parallel with respect to.the strips. 28 of the picture 26.
Each- lenticular zone 34 corresponds to a strip 28 and a space 30 adjacent thereto such that each lenticular zone 34 has a width substantially equal to the width of the strip 28 plus the width of the space abutting thereto. These lenticular zones 34 are adapted to produce optical effect which renders only one of the pictures 26, 32 to be vlewable from the front of the panel 12 at any angle.
Although the lenticular zones 34 of the panel 12 have been described as being arranged in a vertical direction, it is understood that these lenticular zones 34 may be arranged in other directions or even a combination of directions.
Means is used to support or hold the panel 12 in registration with the photograph or picture 32 in such a manner that the photograph or picture 32 is urged upon and abutted against the rear surface 24 of the panel 12. Such means may consist of a picture frame mat 36 preferably in the form of a cardboard. The cardboard, preferably having a dimension substantially equal to that of the panel 12, is abutted against the back of the picture 32 rendering the latter to be held tightly against the rear surface 24 of the panel 12 yet allowing easy and ready removal and replacement of the picture 32.
A picture frame (not shown) is used to hold the panel 12, the picture 32 and the picture frame mat 36 into a display position.
It is contemplated that the transparent panel 12 of the present invention further acts as a protective means for protecting the photoqraph or picture 32 from the outside environment.
One of the advantages of the display system 10 of the present invention is its conspicuousness which makes it applicable to advertisement display stand or the like which requires an eye-catching means to attract the attention of passers-by.
Although the changeable pictures disply system 10 has been described with particular reference to a system for displaying pictures, it is evident to one skilled in the art that such system may be incorporated for other purposes. For example, the display system 10 may be adopted to the display of message or information which requires to be up-dated or changed frequently.
While the present invention has been shown and described with particular reference to a preferred embodiment thereof, it should be noted that various other changes or modifications may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
