Filters having sheet filtering - materials; filters fitted in pipes.-A petrol or like filter is provided with a removable member adapted to be connected between the ends of an existing union and having passages opening to the two sides of the filter. This member may take the form. of a tube b the ends of which are respectively connected to the supply pipe and to the carburettor, the tube being plugged in the middle. The tube fits into a bore in the upper part a of the filter body. The filter is formed of chamois leather i on a helical or spiral wire j held 'by an eyelet k in the central orifice of a washer h which makes joint between the part a and a sump g which is preferably of glass. Petrol entering through a passage n passes downward through apertures l in the washer h, and after filtering through the chamois leather leaves through a central conical tube a<1> and a nozzle m. Water and other impurities collect in the sump g. Specification 195,200 is referred to.
