Abstract

The stroboscope light sources are mounted in, on, or by eyepieces e.g. light emitting diodes mounted in a pair of swimming goggles. The electronic circuit which powers the light sources may have controls to alter the frequency of the strobe and its brightness. The light sources may be activated or powered either alternately or synchronously.

Description

SPECIFICATION Portable stroboscope This invention relates to a portable stroboscope.
There are large stroboscopes which consist of a single flashing light. These are large and not portable in that they would not fit into a pocket, handbag or pouch. They consist of one light only and cannot be used to alternately flash in the right eye and the left eye.
They illuminate the surrounding area and so two people can not use seperate stroboscopes in the same room simultaneously.
According to the present invention there is provided a portable stroboscope with seperate light sources for each eye. These light sources are mounted on, by, or in eyepieces held over or in proximity to the eye in the form of eyepieces, goggles, spectacles or a visor. The light sources are controlled and powered by an electronic circuit to which the light sources are connected. Control of the rate of strobe and brightness of flash are provided. The light sources may be activated synchronously or alternately.
A simple embodiment of the invention would be light emitting diodes mounted in swimming goggles conected to a bistable driven by a clock chip.
1. A portable stroboscope with seperate light sources for each eye with appropriate electronic circuitry to enable the light sources to be powered alternately.
2. A portable stroboscope as claimed in Claim 1 having a control to alter the frequency of flashing of the light sources.
3. A portable stroboscope as claimed in Claim 1 and/or Claim 2 having a control to adjust the brightness of the light sources.
4. A portable stroboscope as described in any of the preceeding claims where in electronic circuitry or switching apparatus provides for alternate or synchronous activation of the light sources.
