Abstract

A bicycle saddle cover (1) which is stowed when not in use in an integral pocket (3) which is attached to the rear of the saddle by means of two straps (5). The cover (1) has an elasticated section (2) to retain it in place on the saddle and a ridged underside to allow air circulation. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Bicycle saddle cover with pocket for stowing This invention relates to a bicycle saddle cover which, when not in use, is stowed at the back of saddle.
A bicycle saddle cover is designed to be placed on the saddle when the bicycle is not in use in order to keep the saddle dry should it rain. When the rider wishes to use the bicycle the saddle cover is removed.
Bicycle saddle covers presently available once removed from the saddle have to be carried either in a pocket of the rider's apparel or elsewhere on the bicycle.
According to the present invention there is provided as an integral part of the saddle cover a pocket into which the saddle cover is placed when not in use and which is attached to the rear springs of the saddle by means of two straps. When the rider wishes to use the saddle cover it is unfolded from the pocket and placed over the saddle.
The invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 illustrates the bicycle saddle cover with integral pocket in the position in which it it used to protect the saddle from rain.
Figure 2 shows the saddle cover lifted off the saddle and prior to its being stowed in the integral attached pocket.
Figure 3 shows the saddle cover stowed in the integral pocket shows the position of the straps which attach the pocket to the rear of the bicycle saddle.
Referring to the drawings the saddle cover (1) comprises a single piece of waterproof material with an elasticated section (2) which keeps it in place when it is in position as shown in Fig. 1 and with an integral pocket (3) into which it is placed when not in use, as shown in Fig. 3. The pocket has straps (5) attached which loop around the rear springs of the bicycle saddle and thus keep the pocket in position hanging beneath the rear of the saddle. The pocket also has poppers (4) which allow the pocket to be closed and thus prevent rainwater entering the pocket.
In order to use the saddle cover the cover is removed from the pocket (3) and placed in position as shown in Fig. 1 over the saddle.
When it is required to remove the cover it is stowed in the pocket (3) and the poppers (4) popped together. The underside of the cover (1) is ridged in order to allow air to circulate.
1. A removeable saddle cover with an integral pocket into which the cover can be stowed when not in use and which attaches to the rear of the cycle saddle by means of two straps.
2. A removeable saddle cover as claimed in claim 1 with an elasticated section at the front which keeps it in place when it is in position over the saddle.
3. A removeable saddle cover as claimed in claim one or claim 2 with two poppers on the pocket which when popped together, prevent rainwater entering the pocket.
4. A removeable saddle cover as claimed in claim 1, claim 2 and claim 3 with a ridged underside to allow air circulation.
