Abstract

A dispenser cap for flowable materials, such as toothpaste, is provided with a slot-shaped aperture through which the material can be extruded from its container (typically a flexible tube) in the form of a flat ribbon. In this way, more control can be maintained over the amount of material to be dispensed at a time. A cover having an internal bead which engages and seals the slot may be provided for the cap.

Description

SPECIFICATION Economic dispenser This invention relates mainly to the dispensing of materials having a constituent formative yielding plastic base, and includes viscous fluids whether they be composite or natural. The invention is aimed specifically at the dispensing of tooth-paste, and its unnecessary waste.
The aperture in most tubes of 50 ml tooth-paste on the market at the present time is between 5 mm to 8 mm diameter. Therefore, when the tube is compressed the volume of paste exuded far exceeds the quantity required to clean one's teeth - but when the invention (Dispenser) is screwed to the tooth-paste and the same pressure applied, a ribbon of paste emerges 1 mm thick and 8 mm wide enough to cover any toothbrush bristles.
When placing the Cap 2 all it needs is a slight twist until the angle on the Dispenser 1 locates with the angle on the Cap 2. Then a gentle thrust, the two will then seal by the bead inside the Cap 2 locating in the recess of the Dispenser 1.
1. A dispenser comprising a cap locatable on a nozzle, and a slot in the cap through which flowable material may be extruded.
2. A dispenser as claimed in claim 1, wherein the slot is of the order of one millimetre wide.
3. A dispenser as claimed in claim 1 or 2, further comprising a cover adapted to fit over the cap whenever material is not being extruded through it.
4. A dispenser as claimed in claim 3, wherein the cover includes a flange arranged to fit into the said slot.
5. A dispenser, substantially as herein described with reference to either of the accompanying drawings.
6. A method of extruding a flowable material, the method comprising the steps of passing the material through a nozzle, and through a slot provided in a cap located over the nozzle.
7. A method as claimed in claim 6, further comprising the step of placing a cover over the cap after completion of the extrusion step, and fitting a flange of the cover into the slot.
8. A method as claimed in claim 6 or 7, wherein the flowable material is toothpaste.
9. A method of extruding a flowable material, substantially as herein described with reference to either of the accompanying drawings.
