A cock structure comprises a body (2) defining on its interior a valve chamber (5) in communication with a gas bottle fitting (3) and a delivery fitting (4). In the valve chamber (5) there is translatable an actuating body (10) provided with lateral seal means (11) and a gasket (12) engageable against the opening (6) of the bottle fitting (3). The actuating body (10) is associated with a handwheel (17) engaging rotatably with threads (19) defined in the valve chamber (5). An element (21) press fitted into an annular groove (20) in the valve chamber (5) arranges itself into an annular shape to engage with a protuberance provided at the inward end of the handwheel (17) to prevent its disengagement from the body (2). At its outer end the element (21) has a head which facilitates removal of the element from the annular groove (20). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Cock structure, particularly for liquid gas bottles The present invention relates to a cock structure, particularly for liquid gas bottles.
As is known, liquid gas bottle cocks usually comprise a body having a fitting at the bottom for connection to the bottle, and laterally, a delivery fitting for connection to the consumer set.
The cited fittings open, internally of said body, into a valve chamber where an actuating body is translatable which is provided laterally with annular seal of the O-ring type which makes a seal on the side wall of the valve chamber of cylindrical configuration, and downwardly, with a pad gasket which is pressed against the opening of the bottle connection fitting to shut off the bottle where required.
The actuating body is connected, for its translation, to a handwheel which engages rotatably with threads defined in the upper part of the valve chamber and which has, at the bottom, a yoke element which couples with the shaped head of the actuating body.
To prevent the actuating body from slipping off the valve chamber, it is known to use pins which are fitted crosswise in said valve chamber and engage by contact with the upper part of the yoke element, preventing the handwheel from slipping off by turning.
With the construction described above, the problem is encountered that the stop element, comprising one or more cross pins, cannot be removed, once it has been introduced into the valve chamber, such that it is impossible to replace any worn or otherwise damaged gaskets.
It follows that this cock type, as soon as wear appears, must be entirely replaced, it being impossible to repair it.
It is the aim of this invention to eliminate such prior drawbacks by providing a cock structure particularly for liquid gas bottles which is provided with a stop elementforthe actuating body, which provides for access, where required, to the inner parts of the cock for replacing the gaskets, by merely removing the stop element of the actuating body.
Within the above aim, it is a particular object of the invention to provide a cock structure, provided with a stop device which is highly effective but can, where required, be easily removed.
Another object of this invention is to provide a cock structure which can be readily formed from elements and materials commonly available on the market, and which, owing to its peculiar constructional features, is advantageous from the purely economic point of view.
The above aim, and these and other objects to become apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a cock structure particularly for liquid gas bottles, comprising a body defining on its interior a valve chamber in communication with the fitting for connection to the bottle, and with a delivery fitting, in said valve chamber there being translatable an actuating body provided with side seal means and a gasket engageable against the opening of said bottle connection fitting, said actuating body being associated with a handwheel engaging rotatably with threads defined in said valve chamber, characterized in that it comprises a stop element adapted to be press fitted into an annular groove defined in said valve chamber and adapted to assume an annular shape for engagement with a protuberance provided on the inner end of said handwheel to prevent it from disengaging from said body, said stop element having a head at its outer end adapted to allow said stop element to slip off said annular groove.
Further features and advantages will be apparent from the following description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of a cock structure particularly for liquid gas bottles, as shown by way of illustration and not of limitation in the accompanying drawing, where: Figure 1 is an axial sectional view of the cock structure; Figure 2 is a partly exploded view of the cock structure; and Figure 3 is a sectional view taken along the line lil-lil of Figure 2.
With reference to the cited drawing figures, the cock structure of this invention, generally designated 1, comprises a body 2 having at the bottom a fitting 3 for connection to the liquid gas bottle or the like, and laterally, a delivery fitting 4 for connection to the consumer set.
Inside the body 2, there is defined a valve chamber 5 which is in communication, at the bottom, with the port 6 of connection to the fitting 3, while it is connected laterally to the delivery fitting 4.
Inside the chamber 5, there is sealingly translatable an actuating body 10 which has side grooves for accommodating side sealing gaskets formed of O-rings 11 and supports at the bottom a gasket 12 adapted to abut against the port 6 to shut off the bottle.
Upwardly the actuating body 10 has a mushroom head 15 coupleable with a bracket 16 defined on the lower protuberance of handwheel 17 provided with a threaded tang 18 engaging rotatably with threads 19 defined upwardly in the valve chamber 5.
The valve chamber 5 defines in its upper part an annular groove 20 wherein a stop element can be press fitted which comprises a small bar 21, preferably of square cross-section, deformable to cause it to take, as shown best in Figure 3, an annular shape matching that of the groove 20 itself.
The peculiar feature of the invention is that the cited small bar 21 has, at one end, which will be placed outwardly of the valve chamber 5, a head 30 which advantageously forms a grip element when the bar 21 is to be drawn out of the annular groove.
The head 30 forms in fact an element of engagement with any tool or the like which allows the bar 21 to be easily slipped out, to allow the cock actuating body to be repaired, such as by replacing any worn out gaskets.
The bar 21 has advantageously a substantially square-shaped cross-section and can couple sub stantiallywith the entire periphery of the bracket 16 which is defined on the lower protuberance of the handwheel 17, thus ensuring that a stable and reliable retaining element can be provided for holding the handwheel within the valve body.
It may be seen from the foregoing that the bar 21 is adapted to be press-fitted into the annular groove 20, such that it deforms to take the annular groove configuration and arranges itself practically circumferentially around the protuberance itself.
When one is to service the cock, it will be sufficient that a pull action be exerted on the head 30 of the bar 21, which is left outside the body 2 and accommodated at a cutout 40 which is defined in the body itself.
The invention herein is susceptible to many mod ifications and changes without deviating from the scope of the inventive concept.
Furthermore, all the details may be replaced with technical equivalents thereof.
In practicing the invention, the materials used, so long as compatible with the specific use, and the dimensions and contingent shapes may be any suitable ones to meet individual requirements.
