Abstract

216,429. Rett, C. E., and Anderson, G. S. April 24, 1923. Moulding wheel tyres. -Relates to moulds for pressing and vulcanizing solid tyres of the type described in Specification 183,744, and particularly applicable to the method described in Specification 216,300, and comprises mould halves 1, 2 abutting peripherally and each formed with an inner wall 7 adapted to engage the side of the rim 8, and an annular groove 9 with bevelled surface 10 adapted to engage the rim flange 11 to centre the rim in the mould. The member 1 carries dowel pins 16 engaging corresponding holes in the member 2. Core pins 4 are permanently attached to the member 1 by shanks 5 riveted at 6 and engage corresponding holes 18 in the member 2. The member 2 is furnished with steam-circulating grooves 17 extending approximately tangentially.
