Abstract

216,241. Simms, F. R., and Simms Motor Units (1920), Ltd. March 8, 1923. Universal joints. - In resilient and adjustable shaft couplings of the kind described in Specification 124,545, and in which the two members provided with different numbers of teeth and the engaging - parts of the intermediate ring are made of truncated conical form, the intermediate ring is of rubber, and its periphery is protected by a vulcanite ring vulcanized thereto. The coupling members a, b may be entirely of metal or may comprise inner metal parts i and outer vulcanite parts j secured thereon by castellations and iormed with the conical teeth c, d to engage the rubber ring e, which is surrounded by the vulcanite ring h.
