Abstract

A bunker bin 1 feeding a conveyor in a coal mine can be lifted at back to pivot about a front point C by hydraulic rams 4 causing a tipping action of the bin. A control valve 6, serves to actuate bin movement. The control is operated again to reverse the action of the rams thus returning the bunker bin to its start position. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Hydraulic tipping conveyor feed bunker This invention relates to a Hydraulic Tipping Conveyor Feed Bunker.
The usuai method of coal and dirt underground storage in the Mining Industry is the Horizontai Strata Bunker.
In the above system bunkerage is used to control steady outfeed production, while intermittent coal face production is in force, or a second use to separate coal production from that of dirt production.
The coal is ploughed off an overhead belt conveyor directly into the roadway, and when required taken by a shearer scroll onto a armoured face conveyor running the length of the bunker roadway and feeding main outfeed belt conveyor.
The above system offers only limited control of outfeed and is a slow, clumsy and a dusty method of production storage.
According to the present invention there is provided an hydraulic tipping conveyor feed bunker comprising, Bunker Bin. An open topped steel box secured to bin sub-frame, this sub frame secured by means of pivots to main base sub-frame. The bin sub-frame being allowed to pivot about a front point and so tipping through open front.
A special embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 illustrates in end elevation the bunker bin in loading position.
Figure 2 shows the bunker bin in unloading position.
Referring to Fig. 1 the hydraulic tipping conveyor feed bunker comprises, 1 bin, 2 base sub-frames, 3 bin pivot frames 4 hydraulic rams, 5 overspill plates and 6 control valves. The hydraulic ram closed centres A and B are noted along with bin pivot point C.
The position of the armoured face conveyor is shown A.F.C. (The armoured face conveyor being the usual conveyor type, other means could be employed).
Fig. 1 shows the bin in the down or loading position, in this position the bin is loaded for example by an overhead belt conveyor with travelling plough, ploughing off belt into rows of bins or other method of loading.
Fig. 2 shows bin in up or unloading position, the hydraulic ram centres A-B are now in the extended position and the bin has pivoted around point C. The hydraulic ram is controled by control valve 6 or remote and or automatic control.
Any overspill while unloading is checked by overspill plates 5.
When unloading of bin is complete the bin is lowered by operating control valve 6 or other as above. The bin moved back to position Fig. 1.
1. An hydraulic tipping conveyor feed bunker, comprising Bunker Bin secured at front hinge point to main base pivot subframe. Means to raise the bin at back to pivot around this point in a tipping action of the bin. This caused by hydraulic rams, the action of the bin reversed when tipping is complete.
2. An hydraulic tipping conveyor feed bunker, as claimed in claim 1 wherein overspill plates are provided to check any overspill into roadway when bunker is tipping.
3. An hydraulic tipping conveyor feed bunker as claimed in claim 1 wherein the bunker bin, bin sub-frame, main base subframe, bin pivot frame, rams and overspill plates are readily dismounted and reassembled for easy transport underground.
4. An hydraulic tipping conveyor feed bunker as claimed in claim 1 where suitable bearing points are provided for hydraulic ram and pivot for smooth operation of the bin.
5. An hydraulic tipping conveyor feed bunker as claimed in any preceding claim wherein the movement of the bin is arrested at the full stroke of the hydraulic ram.
6. An hydraulic tipping conveyor feed bunker as claimed in any preceeding claim where a row of the claimed hydraulic tipping conveyor bunkers are used in one location and can be operated independant of each other.
7. An hydraulic tipping conveyor feed bunker as described herein with reference to Figs. 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawing.
