Abstract

A transparency frame has two frame halves 1,2 each having a light pervious region 3 for receiving a transparency and one on both halves having a second light pervious region 5 for receiving a strip carrying additional information. In another embodiment the frame halves are integral at the strip receiving section and only separable at the transparency receiving section. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A system including a plurality of projection holders for a slide and an additional image carrier The invention relates to a projection holder for a slide comprising at least two flat, substantially rectangular elements, each having an at least substantially rectangular, transparent region, where a slide can be arranged between said elements.
The invention has for its object to design a holder of the kind set forth in the preamble in a manner such that the user can simultaneously project additional information which may relate to the subject of the slide.
To this end the holder embodying the invention is characterized in that one element or both has(have), at the side of the first transparent region a second transparent region, at which an additional image carrier can be arranged. The projection holder may be designed in many ways, for example, in the form of elements of transparent synthetic resin or glass material, which is made opaque in the unprojectable regions, for example, by etching.
In a further embodiment each element is a rectangular framework in which one transparent region of both regions of the elements is (are) a window opening surrounded by the framework.
In a further development of the invention one framework element has a standing circumferential rim on the inner side of which fits a second framework element, said circumferential rim being interrupted on one side of the second window opening. After the two elements are joined and the slide is clamped in the additional image carrier can afterwards be provided with a supplementary image carrier which can be laterally disposed in front of the second window opening.
On the other hand the second transparent region of one element may have a larger circumference than that of the other element.
In this embodiment the additional image carrier can be disposed on the front or on the rear side of the projection slide holder.
The invention furthermore relates to the image carrier, a large number of which can be assembled in the form of a strip in accordance with the invention. In this way each image carrier is more readily maniable or usable in a normal writing machine. For the latter use the strip preferably has a remaining slip which serves for clamping the strip between the platen and the sheet guides of the typewriter.
The above-mentioned and further features will become apparent from the following description of the Figures.
The drawing shows in Figure 1 a perspective view of the projection holder and an insertable slide with the additional image carrier in the dissembled state, Figure 2 a perspective rear view of the projection holder of Fig. 1, Figure 3 a second embodiment of the projection holder, Figure 4 an exploded view of the projection holder of Fig. 3, Figures 5 and 6 a front view and a side view respectively of a third embodiment, Figures 7 and 8 a front view and a side view respectively of a fourth embodiment, Figures 9 and 10 a front view and a side view respectively of a fifth embodiment, Figure 11 a plan view of a strip of image carriers.
The projection holder embodying the invention mainly comprises in all embodiments two elements 1 and 2, the outer circumferences of which correspond to the standard dimensions of the known slide frames. The elements may be made from any suitable material and all of them have a transparent region 3, where a slide 4 can be inserted between the elements 1 and 2.
According to the invention, at the side of the first transparent region 3, there is provided a second transparent region 5, which may have any desired size, but the length of which in the embodiment of Fig. 1 corresponds with the length of the first transparent region, whilst the height is sufficiently large for applying a text by hand or by a typewriter to an additional image carrier 6 to be disposed at the second transparent region 5.
Fig. 1 shows a projection holder whose elements are preferably made from synthetic resin, one element 1 having a standing rim 7, which snaps around the other element 2 as soon as the latter is pressed onto the first element 1. The rim has snapping means (not shown) for retaining the second element. The circumferential rim 7 has at 8 a recess at the level of the second transparent region 5.
Along this region guide ridges 9 are provided for guiding and retaining the second image carrier 6. The slide 4 is positioned by similar ridges 10 on the other element 2 (see Fig. 2).
The other element has furthermore at the level of the second transparent region 5 wedgeshaped lugs 11, so that, when inserted through the recess 8, the second image carrier 6 remains in the space between the ridges 9.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that after the projection holder is mounted i.e. the slide 4 is disposed between the ridges 10 and the elements 1 and 2 are fastened to one another, the slide is ready for projection by a conventional projecting apparatus. Afterwards the user can insert a second image carrier 6 through the opening 8 between the elements 1 and 2 and apply a text to said carrier beforehand or afterwards.
Fig. 3 shows a projection holder comprising two elements 1 and 2 pivoted to one another along the lower rim 1 2. An adhesive strip 1 3 on each of the elements 1 and 2 or on both ensures permanent fixation as soon as the elements are slapped to one another after the slide is arranged at the transparent opening 5.
Afterwards a second image carrier 6 can be disposed at the second transparent opening 5, for example, on the front side of the projection holder; for this reason the transparent opening of the element 1 has a larger circumference than the element 2 (see Fig. 4). After the elements 1 and 2 are slapped to one another, a groove is left around the opening 5 for supporting the image carrier 6.
Figs. 5 and 6 show an embodiment in which the elements are made from transparent material, whilst the light-pervious region 3 or 5 respectively is made from the same material. In order to screen undesirable peripheral projection, the peripheral strip around the light-pervious regions 3 and 5 is rendered opaque by etching (see at 14).
Figs. 7 and 8 show an embodiment in which the element 1 is made from completely transparent material and the element 2 is formed by a framework of the kind shown in Fig. 1 of opaque material. Otherwise the above embodiments operate in the same manner as the embodiments shown in Figs. 1 to 4.
Figs. 9 and 10 show an alternative embodiment in which the parts of the elements 1 and 2 around the second light-pervious region 5 are integral with one another, whilst the element 2 is provided with a hinge 1 5 for tilting the upper part 1 6 to the front in order to permit of inserting a slide. At the lower part around the second light-pervious region 5 the side is open for slipping in the second image carrier.
Fig. 11 illustrates the possibility of asseembling the image carriers 6 to form a strip 7. The image carriers 6 are separated from one another by perforation lines 1 8. Preferably horizontal image carriers 6 as well as vertical image carriers 6' are arranged in the strip in order to apply the test horizontally as well as vertically by means of a typewriter.
Furthermore a remaining part 1 8 is fastened to the strip 1 7 in order to retain the strip in the typewriter at the last image carrier 6".
The strip is preferably made from a material, for example, polyethylene, that can be easily written on.
The invention is not limited to the embodiments described above.
