Description

SPECIFICATION A holder for perforated tool boards The invention relates to a holder which can be mounted on a perforated tool board.
Various tools, such as special tools used in motor vehicle workshops and the like, can be fixed to a perforated tool board by means of appropriately formed holders, which are in turn fixed to the board by means of screws which engage in the holes of the tool board. If a spring clamp is provided as the holder, then there is no provision for adjustment of the spring arms, since the spring clamp consists of a single piece. Likewise, cooperating individual holders usually cannot be adjusted relative to each other in the required manner, because the spacing of the holes on the tool board is predetermined and not variable.
The object of the invention is to form a holder, which can be mounted on a perforated tool board, having a greater range of adjustment, and thus better able to hold different tools.
According to the invention, there is provided a holder suitable for mounting on a perforated toolboard including a guide element having at least one slot, and at least two cooperating holder elements each having a slotted guide portion, said guide portions being displaceably guidable on the guide element with the slots in the guide element and guide portions overlying. The slotted guide rail can be adjustably mounted on the per forated tool board and a large range of adjustment of the cooperating holder elements is achieved by the holder elements being in turn adjustable on the guide rail, so that a holder formed in this way can be adjusted to different tools, independently of the predetermined distribution of holes on the tool board.
By way of example, preferred holders according to the invention are described in more detail below with reference to the drawing, in which: Fig. 1 shows a holder in perspective view, and Fig. 2 shows a mod if ied embodiment.
Figs. 1 and 2 show a guide element in the form of a rail 1 of steel strip with rolled-over longitudinal edges, which is provided with a slot 2 along its length. Two substantially Lshaped and identically formed holder elements in the form of spring elements 3 are each displaceable in the rail 1 by means of a guide portionor limb 4, which likewise is provided with a slot 5. The spring arm of the spring elements 3, projecting at about a right angle to the rail 1, is bent several times for reception of differently shaped tools. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, a portion 6 connects at about a right angle to the limb 4 acting as a guide portion, and this portion 6 is bent inwards over a short section 7 and bent out again for a longer section 8. The end of this spring arm is bent inwards over a short section 9.
Fig. 2 shows a modified embodiment of holder, the spring arms of which are bent similarly to the previously described embodiment, but in which one of the spring arms is provided with a slot 10, in which the more narrowly formed spring arm 11 of the opposite spring element can engage. If the two spring elements of the holder shown in Fig. 2 are arranged on the rail 1 at a greater spacing from one another, then the two spring arms can cooperate in the same way as in the embodiment according to Fig. 1, i.e. they can receive between them a tool or the like. In the interengaging position of the two spring arms, as shown in Fig. 2, a tool of smaller diameter can be inserted between the interengaging spring arms.
The holder, made up of the two spring elements and the rail 1, is fixed, by screws not shown, to a perforated tool board 1 2 indicated in Fig. 1, while the slot 2 in the rail 1 and the overlying slot 5 in the guide portion 4 of the spring elements permits an exact adjustment of the spring arms relative to each other within a large total range of adjustment.
Various modifications are possible. Thus, for example, the slot 2 in the rail 1 can be interrupted in the middle. The spring arms can, with a broader construction, be made with a plurality of slots 10, in which a corresponding number of narrower spring arms 11 can engage. Moreover the bent shape of the spring arms can be formed in another way, or an increased bending can be provided.
According to another embodiment of the invention, instead of the spring elements 3 different holder elements with a guide portion 4 and a slot 5 can also be fixed via the rail 1 to a tool board 1 2. For example, a semicircular holder element or a bar-shaped holder element can be provided instead of the spring arms, these holder elements being designed for the reception of particular tools; in each case two of such individual holder elements, as illustrated by the spring elements 3, cooperate for reception of a tool.
In the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, the spring elements 3 are provided with a slot 1 3 between the guide portion 4 and the spring arm projecting at about a right angle thereto, and the rolled-over edge of the rail 1 engages in this slot. The rail can also be formed in another way, but nevertheless guidance of the spring elements 3 or corresponding holder elements is advisable.
Another guide element can be provided instead of a longitudinally extending rail 1, for example a cross- or star-shaped guide element, the arms of which are formed in the same manner as the illustrated rail 1. In such a construction, a plurality of cooperating holder elements can be displaceably arranged relative to one another on such a guide element.
In the embodiments shown, the spring elements 3 can also be arranged displaced through 180 in the rail 1, so that a correspondingly enlarged clamping range results.
The clamping range can be further enlarged by use of a further guide rail 1.

Claims (7)
