Abstract

214,144. Lucas, Ltd., J., and Egginton, W. H. July 27, 1923. Lantern doors and door fittings.-In a vehicle lamp of the kind in which a detachable front or reflector or both are attached to the body bv a bayonet or equivalent fastening and locked by the outward pressure of spring means within the lamp, the spring means comprise a plurality of spiral springs g adapted to exert pressure at the peripheral portions of the front &c. Each of the springs g, which are arranged at intervals around the periphery of the lamp, is housed in a socket f provided on the body a and bears against a transverse peg k, a disc or washer i being inserted between the forward end of the spring and a rearwardly-turned flange c on the reflector b. The bayonet fastenings for the reflector comprise pins l on the flange c adapted to be passed through slots provided in the lip m on the body and engaged with the rear side of the lip. The bayonet fastenings for the front ring d comprise pins n on the body and slots provided in the inturned edge o of the ring d. The forward edge of the reflector bears against the glass e carried by the front ring so that the pressure of the springs serves to retain both sets of bayonet fastenings in engagement. According to the Provisional Specification, blade springs may be employed instead of spiral springs.
