Heating by electricity.-A fluid heater comprises an outer casing 12 with hollow walls, a conical hollow walled jacket 10 provided with inlet and outlet pipes 11, 14 for the fluid to be heated, and a base-plate 1 supporting the jacket 10 and provided with a fitting 3 in which is mounted an electric heating element 4. The plate 1 is hollow and a vacuum is maintained therein and also within the walls of the casing 12.
