Alternating-current motors. - A two-phase motor is run on a single-phase supply by employing two parallel-connected resistances 12, 13 and two switches 14, 15, the circuits being so arranged that when one of the switches is closed, one phase-winding 10<a> is energized directly from a main and the other phase-winding 10<b> through the. two parallel resistances, which produce the requisite phase modification.
