Description

SPECIFICATION Pen watch This invention relates to an electronics pen watch, and is particularly dealt with a conductive strip movably arranged between the positive and the negative of a watch module and a mercury cell installed in the upper tube, and an ink-reservoir holding mechanism provided in the lower tube for being adaptable to various kinds of ball-point ink reservoir.
Conventionally, all pen watches are constructed with a metal tube for being used as a conductor for the DC power source thereof, resulting not only in a bulky size and weight, but also with high manufacturing cost. Furthermore, as the ball-point ink reservoir is usually provided with a fixed type, replacement of the ink reservoir is limited to the fixed type, incurring too much inconvenience and degraded the utility value.
Accordingly, the primary object of this invention is to provide an electronics pen watch with a conductive strip to make contact between the positive and the negative of a watch module and a mercury cell thereof, and an ink-reservoir holding mechanism provided therein for being adaptable to various kinds of ball-point ink reservoir so that, not only the manufacturing cost is reduced, both the size and weight of the pen watch minimized; but also the utility value greatly promoted.
This and other objects of the invention are achieved by providing a novel electronics pen watch, of which the improvement is characterized by a conductive strip movably arranged between the positive and the negative of a watch module and a mercury cell installed in the upper tube of the pen watch for being operated to energize the watch module to display time through a display window formed in the upper tube, and an ink reservoir holding mechanism matched with a turning coupler and installed in the lower tube, which is detachably engaged to the upper tube, for being adaptable to various kinds of ball-point ink reservoir. Therefore, the pen watch tubes can be made of plastics in various color with minimized size and low cost.
These and other objects as well as advantages of the invention will become clear from the following description of a preferred embodiment when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is an exploded view of a preferred embodiment of a novel electronics pen watch according to this invention; Figure 1A is a schematic illustration of the conductive strip shown in Fig. 1 in effecting electrical contact thereto; and Figure 2 is an assembly view of the preferred embodiment shown in Fig. 1.
Referring to Fig. 1, a preferred embodiment of an electronic pen watch according to this invention comprises in combination: an upper tube 1 having a holding clip 10 and a display window 12 disposed therein with transparent material, a mercury cell 1 5 coupled with an elastic ring 16 and installed in the lower portion of the upper tube 1, a printed circuit plate 14 having a liquid crystal display serving as a watch module installed in the middle of the upper tube 1 with the liquid crystal display thereof exposed in the display window 12 for time indication, a conductive strip 1 3 movably coupled with the printed circuit plate 14, and a push button 11 engaged to the top end of the conductive strip 13 and movably received in the upper opening of the upper tube 1; and a lower tube 2 having a pointed pipe tip 20 at the lower end, a turning coupler 21 with a ball-point ink reservoir 23 received therein being provided within the lower tube 2, and a ink-reservoir holding mechanism 22 having an axial sleeve 221 and a flexible chuck 222 integrally formed thereto being pivotally disposed in the turning coupler 21 with the ball-point ink reservoir 23 detachably held in the chuck 222 for being extended out of and retracted into the lower tube 2 long with the right turning or left turning of the turning coupler 21 as being engaged with the upper tube 1 along with the lower tube 2, for which the turning movement is made by rotating the upper tube 1.
As shown in Fig. 1 A, the printed circuit plate 14 has a negative terminal A at the lower end for being contacted with the negative side of the mercury cell 15, and a positive terminal B at the upper portion for being contacted with the conductive strip 13, which is movably disposed thereto with the upper end engaged by the push button 11.When pressing down the push button 11 once, the conductive strip 1 3 will be moved down in making contact with the positive side of the mercury cell 1 5 for closing the circuit loop therein, and the DC power thereof flows into the printed circuit 14 for time indication through the display window 12 in the upper tube 1; when pressing down the push button 11 again, the conductive strip 1 3 will be moved up to disengage the mercury cell 1 5 in opening the circuit loop therein, and the DC power thereof is cut off for disenabling the printed circuit 14. Therefore, with the arrangement of the conductive strip 1 3 the pen watch tubes can be made of plastics in different color, and manufacturing cost is reduced accordingly.
Moreover, it should be appreciated that the structure of the ink-reservoir holding mechanism 22 according to this invention is adaptable to any kind of ball-point ink reservoir. During replacement of the ink reservoir, only adjust the length of the ink reservoir and sleeve the free end thereof into the flexible chuck 222 of the ink-reservoir holding mechanism 22, and return it to the lower tube for being engaged with the upper tube in turning movement, not only easy and convenient in operation, but also a departure in the utility value of the pen watch.
Shown in Fig. 2 is an assembly view of the preferred embodiment of a novel electronics pen watch according to this invention, wherein the push button 11 is operated for time indications, and the upper tube 1 is turned for extending and retracting the ball-point ink reservoir.
While a preferred embodiment has been chosen and described to illustrate the invention, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications can be made therein without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
