Abstract
An improved ball grinder is characterized by the structure of a plurality of inclined crushing bars (5) or lifters fixedly disposed along the inner wall (4) of the rotatable drum (3). The lifters increase the crushing efficiency and shorten grinding time. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Improved ball grinder
This invention relates to an improved ball grinder foreffectivelyminimizingthegrinding time and increasing the grinding capacity as well as promoting the efficiency of grinding operations.
Conventionally, all the raw materials such as agalmatolite, feldspar, clay, etc., used bythekiln industry are ground to fine powderwith a ball grinder, of which operations are generally performed by a rolling cylinder. Raw materials to be smeshed to powder are placed in the rolling cylinder with ball stones mixed therein for providing the meshing force along with the revolving ofthe rolling cylinder so as to achieve the pulverizing purpose therewith.
At present, the known ball grinder used by the general kiln industry is shown in Fig. 1, wherein a plurality of fixed crushing bars 2 are longitudinally disposed on the inner wall ofthe rolling cylinder 1 with the axial lines running parallel to the revolving axial centre of the rolling cylinder 1. By means of continuous revolving ofthe rolling cylinder 1,the raw materials contained therein are smeshed to powder through the agitation and friction orcolidingwith the ball stones thereof. However, as the crushing bars 2 are formed in parallel with the revolving axis of the rolling cylinder 1,the raw materials therein can only be agitated in radial motion without axial colliding action. Therefore, even at the expense of prolonged operation and greater power consumption, residue control overthe raw material thereof still cannot be achieved belowtheeffective rate. This is the main problem confronting the kiln industry at present.
It is accordingly an object of this invention to provide an improved ball grinderwith inclined crushing bars arcuatelyformed in the rolling cylinder for solving the aforesaid problem and promote the efficiency of grinding operations.
This and other objects and advantages of the present invention will become clearfrom the following description of a preferred embodiment when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure lisa partial sectional view of a known rolling cylinder used in the conventional ball grinder; and
Figure 2 is a partial sectional view of a preferred embodiment of a rolling cylinderforan improved ball grinder according to this invention.
Referring to Fig. 2, a preferred embodiment of a rolling cylinder for an improved ball grinder according to this invention comprises a hollow rolling cylinder 3 having a plurality of inclined crushing bars 5 fixedly disposed along the inner wall 4 of the cylinder 3. The arrangement of the inclined crushing bars 5 is characterized in that each bar5 has a middle section 5a disposed on the inner wal 14 in parallel with the revolving axis ofthe rolling cylinder3, an upper inclined section 5b and a lower inclined section Sc respectively secured to the opposing ends ofthe middle section 5a on the upper portion and the lower protion ofthe inner wall 4with a pre-determined inclining angle being defined by the inclined sections 5b and Sc with respecttothe revolving axial centre of the rolling cylinder 3.
When the rolling cylinder3 is revolving in the direction as indicated by the arrow in Fig. 2, the raw materials therein will be carried to a certain higher place in the rolling cylinder 3, and then, by the gravity ofthe raw materials themselves, be rolling down respectively along the inclined sections Sb and Sc toward the middle sections 5a. During the process of rolling down, more and greatercolliding action among the raw materials will take place, and after the rolling down, the raw materials will be momentarily stacked in an arch shape on the middle sections 5a.
Upon reaching a certain height, the momentary stack ofthe raw materials will be avalanched to both sections 5b and Sc until they are broughtto a certain heighttherein before falling down toward the bottom ofthe rolling cylinder 3. Such agitation and rolling actions as described above are repeatedly done in the rolling cylinder 3. As a result, more frictions and greater collinding actions are provided forthe raw materials for expediting the pulverization of the raw materials thereof.
As mentioned in the preceding paragraph, the magnitude ofthe inclined angle 0 is determined bythe nature of the raw materials to be ground therewith.
Forthose materials with highercoagulability,a larger inclined angle 0 is provided thereto. In the preferred embodiment ofthis invention, the raw materials are agalmatolite, feldspar and clay, so that, the proper inclined angle 0 is preferably between 250.650. In general, the inclined angle 0 forthe low coagulability can be effective from 8 , while, for the high coagulability, the inclined angle 0 should be as large as 800four preferable actions. Besides, the inclined angle and the direction between the upper sections 5b and the lower sections 5e can beformedeitherthesame orin different way as required. As the inclined angle is not a salient feature ofthis invention, detailed explanation is hereby omitted.
According to the repeated experiments made by this inventorwith the raw materials of agalmatolite, feldspar, clay and water, the grinding capacity is increased to about 25%, and the grinding time is shotened to 28.5% in comparison with the conventional ball grinder. Moreover, the residual rate can be kept low between 1 and 2.
While a preferred embodiment has been chosenlo illustrate the invention, it will be understood by those skilled in the artthatvarious changes and modifications can be made therein without departing from the scope of this invention as defined in the appended
claims.
