Description

SPECIFICATION Adjustable wall structure system This invention relates to an adjustable wall structure system in a modular grid, particularly although not exclusively for sanitaryware exhibitions.
Sanitaryware exhibition stands or areas have until now been constructed and erected manually by specialist workers by building a custom-built structure after which the windows were put in, the cables laid, banks of fittings and tiles were fixed and other manual work of this type was carried out.
It is disadvantageous that specialist workers are necessary for assembly and dismantling; this is expensive and costly: in addition countless restoration work has to be carried out if and when the system is used again. Also very frequently replacement of the construction materials is necessary since they are damaged during dismantling. Sometimes it is less expensive to erect a new stand rather than to repair and adapt one which has been installed elsewhere.
An aim of the invention is to provide for the construction and maintenance of special santitary exhibition areas, avoiding the above-mentioned disadvantages.
According to the present invention there is provided an adjustable wall structure system in a modular grid, suitable for exhibition stands, comprising two different widths of system wall elements, a system window wall element with a window opening, system wall connectors by means of which the wall elements are connected together, in use, a base track on which the wall elements can be located, an upper part as an upper door panel, and facing strips for attachment to the exposed connector edges or wall element edges.
Optionally, one or more decorative panels and/or one or more banks of fittings is/are arranged on the wall elements.
A system in accordance with the invention, might thus consist of a kit comprising one or more of the following items: a) two different sizes of system wall elements, b) a system window wall, c) system connectors and d) front screens; which are mounted on e) a base track and with f) an upper part for an upper door closure and g) on the system walls decorative panels and banks of fittings are optionally disposed.
The advantages of the invention consist in that a series production of standardised parts with detachable connections is provided; the result is the following further advantages in detail: 1. quick planning and cost ascertainment; 2. good rate of depreciation due to re-use; 3. self-contained construction and the possibility of individual planning; 4. the possibility of later expansion (repeat order); 5. a possibility of simple rebuilding, even of partial areas; 6. construction and reconstruction without specialist tools; only a general tightening key or tool is required; 7. a simple electrical installation; 8. less dirt during the tiling work; 9. use in almost all areas is possible: baths, reception, groups of seats, boutique and the like; 1 0. independence of static or permanent ceilings and walls.
Preferably the system wall elements and system connectors, and the facing edge screens or strips are bolted together by tighteners and in the upper region of the system wall elements and the system connectors, a cable duct is provided.
In addition there may be provided inserts, e.g.
laminated, for the optional furnishing of the window opening of the window wall element and system connectors with two-sided connection for diagonal joints.
Advantageously specific areas of the adjustable walls, and the or each decorative panel and system connectors, and the or each upper part, front facing screen or strip and bank of fittings is flocked with velours; and the upper door panels part is secured by means of suitable fasteners, such as socket head cap screws, to the front facing screens or strips. It is further advisable that the decorative panels are easily secured to the respective system wall elements by means of aluminium sheets, and that, according to requirements, on the decorative panels, on the chip-board sheets contructing facings of the wall elements, and on the banks of fittings there are securely disposed cooperating V-ledges and Vedge strips for the purpose of mounting each decorative panel and/or each bank of fittings. The aluminium sheets are conveniently bent at the upper and lower end in simple fashion for this purpose.
The invention may be put into practice in various ways but certain specific embodiments will now be, by way of example, with reference to the attached drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective view part of an adjustable wall structure system in accordance with the invention; Figure 2 is a plan view taken on Figure 1; Figure 3 is a partial section through a corner portion of the adjustable wall structure system shown in Figure 1; Figure 4 is a detailed cutaway portion of a connector; Figure 5 is a detailed cutaway portion of a base fastening; Figure 6 is a side view of a system wall element with a decorative plate; and Figure 7 is a side view of a wall panel for mounting a bank of fittings.
In Figures 1 and 2 there is shown an adjustable wall structure system in a modular grid, for sanitaryware exhibitions. The adjustable wall structure system is produced from a double-sided chipboard construction and consists in detail of a 90 cm wide system wall element 1 and a 45 cm wide system wall element 2, and a system window wall element 3; these are joined together by system connectors 4 and by means of tighteners 5 that are indicated in Figures 1 and 3 only by dots showing their locations. Further details are not illustrated concerning the tighteners 5 as any suitable known fasteners may be used; preferably they are such that a nonspecialised tool may be used for doing them up and undoing them, for example socket head screws or bolts.Front facing strips 6 are provided for a secure edge closure; these strips are also secured by means of tighteners 5 (Fig. 1) to the respective system wall elements 1 to 3.
As shown in Figures 1 and 3, the window wall element 3 is conveniently provided with laminated inserts 33 for furnishing the window opening.
The system wall elements 1 and 2 and window wall element 3 and the connectors 4 are located on a base track 7 which may be fixed to the floor (Fig 5). For an upper door panel closure there is secured to the edge strips 6 an upper part 8 by means of inner screws. On the system wall elements 1 and 2 there are optionally disposed decorative panels 9 or banks of fittings 1 0.
In the adjustable wall structure system there are mounted sanitaryware bodies 11. Figure 3 shows a section through the adjustable wall structure system; as can be seen, the wall elements 1 and 2 and the window wall element 3 consist of generally vertical solid material beams 12 and 13 and a baseguideway 131 and in addition generally horizontal solid material beams 14 and 15, to which the respective sanitary bodies 11 (Figures 1 and 2) are secured. In a further cutaway portion, the system wall elements 1 to 3 iined up next to one another and the wall connectors 4 are shown covered with chipboard 16. The chipboard 16 may be decorated with tiling as shown and/or regions of the panels may be covered with flocked velours as shown in Figure 3. In other embodiments the panels may be covered with aluminium sheet. As can be seen, the system wall elements 1, 2 and 3 are connected to one another by means of the tighteners 5 by inserting the system connectors 4 with these, and the end face is covered with an edge facing strip 6.
Figure 4 shows a section of a system connector 4, in which there is a cable duct 17 for electrical cables and other services, in the upper part. The connectors 4 are constructed for onesided, two-sided, three-sided or four-sided connection. A similar cable duct is provided in the upper parts of the wall elements 1 to 3, and of the upper door closure panel 8.
Figure 5 shows a cutaway portion from the fastening of the system wall elements 1, 2 and 3 on the angle section base track 7; the upstanding flange of the base track 7 engages into a cutaway portion 18 of the solid material beam 13.
Between the wall elements 1, 2, 3 there is again the system connector 4.
The decorative panel 9 may be secured to the respective system walls 1 to 3 by means of a flocked aluminium sheet 20.
Figure 6 shows a system wall 1 with front and rear chipboard panels 1 6. On the front chipboard panel 16 the aluminium sheet 20 is secured by means of a bend 22 which wraps over the upper edge of the panel. The aluminium sheet 20 also has at its lower end a bend 23 forming a V-shaped ledge; in this there is secured a decorative panel 9 by means of a corresponding V-edge 21 which is rigidly attached to the back of the decorative panel 9. As Figure 7 shows, again in side view, on the front chipboard panel 1 6 and on the bank of fittings 10 there are firmly secured respectively a cooperating pair of V-ledge and V-moulding batons 24 and 25. By fitting together the Vbatons 24 and 25 the bank of fittings 10 is secured to the chipboard panel 1 6.
