Description

SPECIFICATION A cotton rod container with part-sealed opening for the extraction of individual rods The invention relates to a container for cotton rods, being rods carrying at opposite ends cotton wool or like material. The container has a partsealed opening for the extraction of individual rods or sticks, the combination and configuration of the parts of the container making it particularly useful.

As is well-known, conventional containers are generally so constructed as to require the use of both hands, it being necessary to open the container for the extraction of one or more rods or sticks. Such a process may involve problems, particularly when looking after and suitably holding a baby.

It is the object of the present invention to provide a rod container of such a construction as to facilitate the extraction of individual rods using only one hand.

According to the invention, there is provided a cotton rod container of the type comprising a boxlike container body characterised by an opening covered by a sheet of flexible material provided with a slit parallel to the lengths of the cotton rods.

By way of example, the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, the single figure showing the container in a perspective view.

Referring to the above figure, a container generally denoted at 1 is of parallelapiped shape and of cardboard or equivalent material.

An oval opening 3 is formed on the major face 2 and closed by a thin sheet 4 of plastics material, such as polyethylene, provided with a slit 5 along the major axis of said opening 3 and parallel to the lengths of the rods 6 in the container 1. In a modified embodiment, not shown, the sheet 4 may be provided with a weakening line intended to yield under slight pressure to create said slit 5.

The proposed approach, in addition to the above-mentioned advantage of enabling an easy and ready extraction of individual rods 6 by using only one hand, ensures good hygienic conditions for the product, since sheet with said slit 5 substantially represents a constant sealing of the container.

Claims

1. A cotton rod container of the type comprising a box-like container body, characterised by an opening covered by a sheet of flexible material provided with a slit parallel to the lengths of the cotton rods.

2. A container according to claim 1, wherein said sheet is made of transparent material.

3. A container according to claim 1, wherein said slit is of a length substantially corresponding to that of the rods.

4. A cotton rod container substantially as described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawing.
