Abstract

A marking grid for a dartboard is vee shaped in cross-section to deflect darts hitting it into the board. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A vee section marking grid assembly for use on dartboards The invention relates to dartboards and the game of darts.
The background art concerned would be that of dartboard construction.
The object of the invention is to provide an improved playing section marking grid assembly which may be fitted to the playing face of a dartboard.
The invention permits darts which may hit the marking grid, to be deflected into the board, preventing ricochets and dropped darts. This would permit of safer and improved play. This is accomplished by presenting a Vee section grid assembly towards the player, instead of the usual hemispherical section provided by the round section wire grid.
This invention will be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings of four forms of dartboard grid assembly, made in accordance of the invention.
The following drawings are not inteded in any way to be restrictive since modifications to the specific arrangements to be described can be made without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appendant claims.
Basically the grid wire assembly is the same in each of the four applications to be described.
The first sectional drawing of the assembly (Fig. 1) shows a wire version which presents a Vee profile towards the player and which may be stapled or otherwise attached to the playing face of a dartboard.
The second sectional drawing of the assembly (Fig. 2) is such that in addition to the forward facing Vee it also carries a rearward facing strengthening extention permitting of the grid wire assembly being pressed into the face of a suitable board where it would be retained. A suitable board for this purpose could be one of the bristle type of construction.
The third sectional drawing of the assembly (Fig. 3) is such that in addition to the forward facing Vee it carries rearward facing lugs or pegs which would enable the assembly to be pressed into a suitable dartboard surface, or fitted into suitably placed, drilled or preformed holes in the dartboard face.
The fourth sectional drawing of the assembly (Fig. 4) is such that in addition to the forward facing Vee it carries a rearward facing key which would permit of it being moulded into a dartboard.
It will be seen that these constructions allows of a Vee section grid assembly to be pressed into or fitted to and retained in, dartboards or differing construction.
The Vee section grid assembly could be made in metal or in plastics by moulding, casting, stamping or machining.
Claims
1. A Vee section marking grid assembly for the playing face of dartboards, characterised by a forward facing Vee section. As shown in any one of the drawings 1 to 4.
2. A section marking grid assembly for the playing face of dartboards as claimed in claim 1 which may be fitted to existing dartboards.
3. A section marking grid assembly for the playing face of dartboards as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 2 characterised by having rearward facing extentions to permit of fixing to any type or construction of dartboard.
4. A Vee section marking grid assembly for the playing face of dartboards substantially as described and iilustrated in the accompanying drawings.
