Abstract

Cells; cases; electrodes; supports for electrodes. -An accumulator consists of a number of glass tubes a supported by their upper flanges in openings in the member b of a frame c, the openings being connected by slots f as shown in plan in Fig. 3. The electrodes are of inverted U-shape and are supported at their upper ends g by the member b. The frame may contain two rows of cells separated by a web h on the top of the frame. A cover k closes the frame and is steadied by the web h which projects into slots in the cover. The cover is also provided with slots l to receive a clip m which can be attached to any one of the electrodes. The terminals i of the battery are outside the cover whereby they are protected from corrosion.
