Abstract

A car park ticket holder 10 comprises a hook 18 for hooking over the upper edge of a car window, and a lower flange 14 and an upper flange 16 for retaining a car park ticket against a web portion 12 such that the ticket is visible through a car window. Alternatively, the holder may be attached to a window by a suction disc or to an internal driving mirror by a clip. Further, the ticket may be alternatively retained by a pocket, clip or adhesive. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Ticket holders This invention relates to ticket holders for holding a car park or other ticket or label inside a car so that it is externally visibie.
The so-called "Pay and Display" system of collecting car parking charges is becoming increasingly popular with local authorities.
Besides having the drawbacks for the motorist that he is required to predict the length of the period for which he wishes to park his car and to have available sufficient coins of the correct denomination for feeding to the ticket-issuing machine, he is also obliged to stick the selfadhesive ticket issued by the machine to the inner surface of the windscreen or of one of the windows of his car. After the ticket is removed some adhesive remains on the glass leaving an unpleasant sticky deposit which is difficult to remove, especially if there is an accumulation of such deposits.
According to the present invention there is provided a ticket for displaying a car park or other ticket on the inside of a car window or windscreen such that it is externally visible, the holder comprising attachment means for maintaining the holder in position against or near the window or windscreen and retention means for-retaining the ticket in the hoider.
Although the attachment may take the form of, for example, a suction disc for sticking the holder to a glass surface or a clip for attachment to an internal driving mirror, the attachment means are preferably constituted by a hook which fits over the top edge of a car window. The retention means may take the form of a pocket, conveniently with a transparent wall, a spring clip or an adhesive-coated surface, but are preferably constituted by a pair of opposed grooves or channels for receiving respective opposite edge portions of the ticket.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a ticket holder according to the invention; Figure 2 is a front elevation of the holder of Figure 1; and Figure 3 is a side elevation of the holder of Figure 1.
As shown in Figures 1 to 3 a car park ticketholder 10 comprises a web portion 1 2 having a lower flange 14 and an upper flange 1 6 which is extended to form a hook 1 8. The holder 10 is conveniently produced by cutting a plastics extrusion into pieces of the required length.
In use a car park ticket (not shown) is slid along the inner face of the web portion 12, without previous removal of the protective strips covering the adhesive in the upper and lower marginal edge portions of the ticket, so that the flanges 14, 1 6 overlie the edge portions and retain the ticket in the holder 10, which is then hooked over the top of a window by means of the hook 18 and the window closed, leaving the printed parking information on the ticket clearly visible for inspection.
