Abstract

A process for the production of allyl ethers of brominated phenols is described, wherein technical-quality phenols are reacted with allyl chloride in the presence of alkali metal hydroxide or alkali metal carbonate in glycol ether(s) as the solvent, and wherein preferably the molar ratio in respect of phenol:allyl chloride is from 1:1.1 to 1.5 or in respect of diphenol:allyl chloride, from 1:2.2 to 3.0.
