Abstract

An insert of the same plastics material as the sailboard which is receive the insert, is produced by turning or injection moulding in the form shown in the drawing. The insert is introduced into a bore in the sailboard containing newly foamed polyurethane, held in position by means of a strap, and then fused to the sailboard by hot air or gas welding. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Plastic board sailing anchorage inserts 1. Using a rod or pellets of the relevent material (i.e. that of the sailboard requiring modification), plugs to the dimentions of the drawing are produced.
2. Equipment to be used is (1) a lathe or (2) injection mouldings of a relevant size.
3. Mark out the required holes on the sailboard.
Remove material to the required depth of 40mm.
Offer the insert to determine the accuracy of the measurements.
4. When acceptable prepare a small amount of polyurethane foam and pour 1 Omm of the mixture into the prepared hole.
5. Insert plug immediately and fit a strap sufficiently long to pass around the outer configuration of the sailboard.
6. Place a block of wood over the plug and beneath the strap and tighten strap firmly.
7.Leave for 1 5 minutes and then remove block and strap. Clean surrounding area of any excess foam to prepare surface for welding.
8. Using a Lister Hot Air Gun and the relevant rod for the sailboard material, fuze the plastic materials until a complete seal is obtained with the rod.
9. Using this process both joint faces are heated at the same time to bring them to their plastic state. The temperature state, relevant to the material used, and denoted by a number on the temperature control of the hot air gun be adhered to in order to produce a voidless weld.
CLAIM
That this Plastic Board Sailing Anchorage Inserts in so far as the design and process be the sole invention of the applicant. That the method of affixing these anchorages and the technique involved be that of the applicant also.
