Abstract

Compressible material, e.g. bonded mineral wool insulation mat, is formed into a roll, the diameter of the roll is reduced and the roll of reduced diameter is confined in wrapping material. In the described embodiment a roll of mat material (10) is placed in a loop (12) in a movable belt (1). The loop (12) is closed by moving roller (4) towards roller (5) and movement of roller (7) transverse to the belt (1) reduces the size of loop (12) and thus the diameter of the roll of material. Reverse movement of belt (1) and feeding of wrapping material between rollers (4) and (5) wraps the roll of material, which can be removed after movement of roller (4) away from roller (5) has reopened loop (12). <IMAGE>
