Abstract

The guide comprises a right- angled section in which the ends A of the horizontal part are at 45 DEG to the longitudinal axis and the ends B of the vertical part are set back from the faces of the 45 DEG edges A to allow the blade of a cutting tool, eg. a plane 6, to pass without obstruction. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Mitre block The invention relates to a mitre block by which mitres can be accurately prepared on timber sections, picture frames, etc: According to the invention, a mitre block consists of a right-angled section, or two pieces set at right-angles to each other, with the horizontal section cut at an angle of 45" to form a guide on one or both ends, and the vertical section set back from the face of the horizontal section to allow the blade of the cutting tool to pass without obstruction.
The mitre block may be attached to the underside of a conventional mitre block to enable mitres to be rough-cut first on the reverse side.
A packing piece with ends cut at 45" may be used to raise the workpiee to approximately the centre of the cutting tool.
The mitre block may be constructed of any suitable materials.
Referring to the drawings: Figures: 1, 2, 3, and 5 show the mitre block 1. with guide edge A at 45", Figures; 1,3, and 5 show the vertical edge B set back, and cut at 900 in this embodiment.

A mitre joint guide for use with a cutting tool to prepare a mitre on the workpiece, the guide comprises a right-angled section, or two surfaces at right-angles to each other, the ends of the horizontal surface are at an angle of 45" to the length, the ends of the vertical section are set back from the face of the 45" guide edges to allow the blade of a cutting tool to pass without obstruction.
2. A guide as claimed in claim 1 wherein the horizontal surface is raised above, and set back from the 45" guide edge.
