Governors, applications of; controlling different functions by same handle or lever; stop gear operated by driver releasing a lever; control gear for driving in either direction.-In a locomotive or other vehicle having an internal-combustion engine controlled by a governor f and transmitting power to the wheels electrically, a device d which also controls the fuel supply is located near the controller in the driver's cab. The device d may comprise a valve operated by links k from members m at either end of the vehicle. The links k may be operated from the dead man's handle. The links k may be replaced by pneumatic, hydraulic or electric transmissions and the valves may be replaced by gearing controlling the lift of the suction valves of a fuel pump.
