Abstract

Means for identifying a lost animal comprises a tag, disc, pendant, or watch incorporating of a timing device and which shall be attached to a collar affixed in a suitable position to the animal. Such device shows the word "lost" after a given period of time as arranged by the owner of the animal or as set by the manufacturer, and which will indicate to an onlooker that such animal has been away from its owner for that period of time and is in need of care and attention. This device shall be made similar to a watch mechanism or in such manner as an egg-timing device. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Lost Animal Identity Disc Lost animals wearing an ordinary collar and disc are not usually presumed lost unless they become distressed and in an emaciated condition or involved in a road accident. This new idea and design will show that an animal has been away from its owner for a period of two hours or more and can definitely be presumed lost.
Type I Chemical A hollow plastic disc with funnel on top equal to the capacity of the disc, the funnel to hold either sand, chemical or coloured fluid to sift or drip through a small opening between funnel and base over a period of two hours. The chemical, on reaching the top of the disc will reveal, enhance or 'fill in' the word LOST which will be printed in -fluorescent paint.
The centre opening between funnel and disc will be adjustable to facilitate refilling when the animal returns home.
The reverse side of the disc will have owners address printed on it.
Type 2 Mechanised A name disc based on the watch type mechanism which can be wound up and pre-set to reveal the word LOST-printed on a centre plate or bar-after a period of two hours. Name and address printed on the reverse side.
Claims
Identification means for lost animals such as domestic dogs and cats foxes rodents of all descriptions, in the form of a timing device incorporated in an identification tag, disc, pendant or watch type device which will indicate the word lost after a given period of time, such device to be worn attached to the animals collar.
Identification means whereby the device is mechanically operative, ie clockwork.
Identification means whereby the device is chemically operative, ie. sand oil water etc.
Identification means whereby the device is electrically, operative.
Identification means whereby the device is battery operative.
Identification means whereby the device is micro chip operative.
Identification means whereby the device is magnetically operative.
Identification means whereby a window, strip of material, bar, rod, on which will be written the word "LOST" in plain print or fluorescent and which will incorporate the owners name and address.
New Claims or Amendments to Claims filed on 24 Nov 1981 Superseded Claims All New or Amended Claims: 1. The device will consist of a watch type pendant incorporating a clockwork mechanism within which will, after a set period of time, cause the word "lost" to appear printed on a metal or plastic strip, hitherto concealed, to appear at an aperture or window which will be one of two such windows the second of which will show the number of hours at which the watch may be preset and incorporating a winding knob or switch for the purpose of presetting of the time reiease mechanism, the whole device to be manufactured in a suitable metal or plastic material which will facilitate the printing or engraving of the owners name and address on the reverse side of the pendant watch.
2. Identification means according to claim 1 with the exception that the word mechanical be replaced by chemicai and the design to incorporate an additional funnel or vessel to contain the chemical beneath which shall be a catchment to divide the funnel and the watch, such catchment to contain an aperture for the slow release of the chemical over a period of time after which the level of said chemical would reach a point where the word lost would be printed and thereby enhance or fill in or cause the word lost to be outstanding.
3. Identification means whereby the device is electrically operative battery operative micro chip or magnetically operative.
4. Identification means whereby the device is having the printed word lost in fluorescent paint.
