invention, and
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of a preferred embodiment according to the present invention.
Detailed Description of the Invention
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, an outdoor knob 1 according to the present invention has a pin tumbler assembly 2 therein. Indicated at numeral 4 is a tumbler at the end of which there is an induction tenon 3. An outdoor main driving bar 5 is inserted into the outdoor knob 1. Within the outdoor main driving bar 5 there is an induction driving bar 10 having an induction mortise 11 at one end thereof. And between the induction tenon 3 and induction driving bar 10 there is a separating spring 9. Referring to Fig. 2, the induction driving bar 10 is provided with a bore 1 2 at the other end.
Indicated at numerals 8 and 6 are sequentially a barrel bracket and a sleeve, both being molded into one body; the diameter of the sleeve 6 is large enough for the insertion of the outdoor main driving bar 5 therein. The barrel bracket 8 engages with a cross shell 14 to constitute a chamber for a detent bracket 1 7 to slide therein. The detent bracket 1 7 engages with a bolt 18 at one end to perform locking and unlocking operation. As shown in Fig. 1, at the other end of the detent bracket 17, i.e., under the base portions 171 and 1 72 of the detent bracket 17, there is provided a female check 16 having two plates under which there are two corresponding springs 1 5. The cross shell 14 is perforated to invite a male check 1 3 into the detent bracket 1 7. The male check 1 3 comprises a rear disc 134 and a shank 133 which is branched into two prongs 131 and 132. The size of the end of the prong 1 31 is determined by that of the bore 1 2, or vice versa. Between the prong portion and the rear disc 1 34 there is further provided a lug 35 under the shank 133.
In assembling, a washer 7 shown in Fig. 2 is first fitted through the sleeve 6 and then the outdoor main driving bar is inserted through the sleeve 6 into the detent bracket 1 7 which is positioned in the chamber constituted by the barrel bracket 8 and the cross shell 14.
Referring to Fig. 1, a connecting rod 28 is connected with one end to an indoor button 1 9 and with the other end to a push flange 21.
Beyond the push flange 21, as shown in Fig. 2, there is a front disc 38 corresponding to the rear disc 134. Between the push flange 21 and the front disc 38 is a rod 39 greater in diameter than the connecting rod 28. The indoor button 19, the connecting rod 28, the push flange 21, the rod 39 and front disc 38 may be molded into one body; for ease of reference, they are together termed as push device and indicated at numeral 41. The push device 41 is partially fitted within an indoor main driving bar 20 in such a way that it may slide to-and-fro therein; the indoor main driving bar 20
is inserted into an indoor knob 33. The indoor driving bar 20 is provided with two guide troughs
26 and a pin bore 27; the pin bore 27 aligns with
one of the guide troughs 26.As shown in Fig. 1, a
positioning ring 25 is provided with a guide pin 22, a ring groove 23 and two guide troughs 24 which correspond to guide troughs 26 in position and size; the guide pin 22 extends beyond the thickness of the positioning ring 25 into one of the guide troughs 26 and further into the space between the front disc 38 and push flange 21.
With the guide pin 22 within one of the guide troughs 26, the positioning ring 25 pushed by the push flange 21 may slide forward.
As shown in Fig. 1, an electro-magnetic device 40 comprises a housing 29, a magnetic member 30, a spring 32 and a pin 31. The housing is provided with a bore (not shown) for the pin 31 to extend therethrough. In the assembled position as shown in Fig. 2, the electro-magnetic device 40 is suspended above the positioning ring 25 with the pin falling within the ring groove 23. The depth of the ring groove is smaller than the thickness of the positioning ring 25, i.e., smaller than the depth of the guiding troughs 24. Thus the pin 31 may fall into the pin bore 27 when the positioning ring 25 is pushed forward by the push flange 21.The pin 31 is pressed down into the pin bore 27 by the spring 32 as is that of the granted Taiwan Patent
Application No. 6722017 wherein the electric circuit of the electro-magnetic device is disclosed sufficiently.
In assembling, an indoor washer 34 is fitted through the indoor main driving bar 20 between the indoor knob 33 and the positioning ring 25.
And then the male check 13 is inserted with the rear disc 134 ahead into the indoor main driving bar 20. A spring 36 is fitted around the front end of the indoor main driving bar 20, i.e., between the cross shell 14 and the positioning ring 25. As shown in Fig. 2, in an assembled position, the front end of the indoor main driving bar 20 meets that of the outdoor main driving bar 5 within the detent bracket 17. Thus once turned, the ears (not indicated at numeral) at the front end of the outdoor main driving bar 5 or that of the indoor main driving bar 20 may exert a force upon the base portions 171 and 172 to release the bolt 1 8.
According to the present invention, the operation of the button 19 may be divided into two stages: 1) First Stage:
The positioning ring 25 pushed by the push flange 21 at the guide pin 22 thereof will slide forward to let the pin 31 of the electro-magnetic device 40 fall into the pin bore 27, whereby preventing the positioning ring 25 from sliding back. Meanwhile, the end of the prong 132 extends into between the outdoor main driving bar 5 and the sleeve 6; thus the cylinder lock with multi-controllers may not be unlocked by means of the outdoor knob 1.
Since the induction tenon 3 and the induction
mortise 11 is designed not to join with each other
at the first stage, the cylinder lock with multi
controllers can not be unlocked by a key. It
requires a decoding device to decode the electric
circuit, thus turning the electro-magnetic device
40 on to attract the pin 31 up from the pin bore
27. In the same time, the separating spring 9 will
push the induction driving bar 10 and the male
check 13, thus the positioning ring 25 shifting back to its original position where the cylinder lock with multi-controllers may be unlocked by means of outdoor knob 1.
2) Second Stage
To press the button 1 9 beyond the first stage to the position where the lug 35 extends into the detent bracket 17, the induction tenon 3 and the induction mortise 11 will join together. Since the pin 31 still falls into the pin bore 27 at the second stage, it requires a key and simultaneously a decoding device to unlock the cylinder lock with
multi-controllers.
In addition to the unlocking methods as set forth, there is still another one. This method requires to rotate the indoor knob until the guide pin 22 slides from one of the guide troughs 26 to the other, preciseiy speaking, from the guide trough which aligns with the pin bore 27 to that which does not. In this case, when the button 1 9 is pressed to a position determined by the first stage, the pin 31 will not fall into the pin bore 27.
However, when the button 19 9 is pressed to a position determined, the cylinder lock with multicontrollers may be unlocked by means of the conventional induction type unlocking method.
It is to be understood that the foregoing disclosure is given by way of illustrative example only, rather than by way of limitation, and that without departing from the principle and scope of the invention, the details may be varied within the scope of the appended claims.
