Moulding confectionery lubricating; c o o i i n g and heating plungers.-In the production of chocolate or other confectionery casings by inserting a plunger-like core into a mould partially filled with the casing material, adhesion of the material to the core is obviated by coating it with a lubricant which is at the moment of use substantially solid but which melts on contact with the material, such lubricant consisting of either: (1) alcohol, terpenes and like liquids, or water cooled near or below the solidifying point; or (2) gelatine or solutions thereof or like substances. With (1) the plunger is cooled to the desired degree; but with (2) the plunger is not cooled and may even be warmed. Fig. 1 shows a suitable plunger A, which is hollow and is furnished with an inlet A<1> and outlet A<2> for cooling or heating fluid.
