Abstract

207,904. Gornell, H. Sept. 16, 1922. Reservoir pens.-In a self-filling reservoir pen, a cylinder provided with a piston is mounted in the barrel so that it can be rotated to project or retract the nib. The cylinder 4, closed at its forward end, is rotatably mounted in a collar 24 fixed in the barrel, and. is prevented from longitudinal movement by shoulders 25 and' a head 5. A sleeve 18 integral with. the cylinder 4 is provided with a helical slot through which a pin 23 on the end of the nib-carrying rod 20 extends into a longitudinal slot in the barrel 1. In filling. the piston 13, connected by a rod 9 to an operating-head 14, is drawn out to expel air from the cylinder through the aperture 16, the nib end of the barrel is immersed in ink, and the piston is returned to normal position.
