Abstract

A device for fixing pipes to a support comprises a metal laminar piece 1. The piece comprises a central strip which has fingers 2 projecting from opposite sides in opposite directions. A connecting link 7 joins the ends of the strip together when the strip is placed around the pipe. The ends 3 of the fingers 2 bear against the pipe and can flex to accommodate different sizes of pipe. The central strip is spaced from the pipe. A rivet (9, Fig. 5 not shown) received in a strip hole 8 secures the strip to a support (10). <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Pipe fixing device The present invention relates to a device for fixing pipes and is especially concerned with providing a device for fastening pipes of general installations to the structure of factory plants. The device is adjustable to different sizes of pipe with suitable locking means maintaining the same in the working position.
According to the present invention there is provided a device for fixing pipes comprising a laminar piece having a central strip with fingers projecting in opposite directions from its opposite sides, means for fastening the ends of the strip together when the strip has been placed around a pipe, the fingers being bent inwardly so that their free ends bear upon the outside of the pipe and the strip is spaced from the pipe and means for securing the strip to a support.
As to what has been described, the central strip is kept at a distance from the pipe while the extremes of the fingers rest directly on the pipe, allowing the arrangement to adjust itself to different diameters of the pipe.
The strip portion may have an orifice for receiving a rivet for connecting the device with a conventional support fixed to the general structure of the plant.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings of which:~ Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device for fixing pipes in position on a pipe; Figure 2 is a view in the flattened position of the device; Figure 3 illustrates an end view of the device in position on a pipe.
Reference is now made to the drawing wherein there is shown a device made up of a metal stamped laminar piece 1 in the form of an elongate strip from the edges of which project pointed extensions or fingers 2. The piece 1 is ring shaped and the extensions 2 are curved towards the inside of the same, establishing at the extremes 3 of the extensions contact points which bear on the outer surface of the pipe 4 to be secured. The fingers 2 taper in width toward their free ends.
The extremes of the piece 1 have rings 5 and 6 for receiving a closing link 7 for securing the ends of the piece together when the device is placed around a pipe. The central zone of piece 1 forming the strip has a drilled hole 8 for receiving a rivet 9 connecting the device to a support 10 fixed to the structure of the plant.
As it can be appreciated by Fig. 1, the extensions or fingers 2 bear elastically upon the pipe allowing the device to be used for pipes of different diameters.
This invention can be worked under different realization ways that the one above exposed, consequently the device can be construed in any shape or size with the most suitable materials being all this comprised within the spirit and scope of this invention.
1. A device for fixing pipes comprising a laminar piece having a central strip with fingers projecting in opposite directions from its opposite sides, means for fastening the ends of the strip together when the strip has been placed around a pipe, the fingers being bent inwardly so that their free ends bear upon the outside of the pipe and the strip is spaced from the pipe, and means for securing the strip to a support.
2. A device according to claim 1 in which the strip has parallel sides.
3. A device according to claim 1 or 2 in which the fingers taper in width towards their free ends.
4. A device according to claim 1, 2 or 3 in which there are three fingers on each side of the strip.
5. A device according to claim 1, 2, 3 or 4 in which the fastening means comprise rings at the free ends of the strip and a closure link for connecting the rings together.
6. A device according to claim 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 in which the securing means comprises a central hole in the strip for receiving a rivet to connect the strip to the support.
7. A device substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
