Abstract

205,711. Carrau, M. Nov. 6, 1922. Fuel containers.- A filling funnel of the kind provided with means for puncturing a sealed supply container comprises a body 10, Fig. 2, with open ends having disposed within it in spaced relation to its wall a filling tube 14 with its upper end 15 sharpened to a piercing point, the tube being secured in the body 10 by soldering, brazing &c. at 16. A cover 11 is hinged to the body 10 at 12 and may be provided with a packing 13 of indurated fibre &c. A conductor tube 17 is secured to the body 10 at 12 and may be permanently secured to the fuel tank of an automobile &c. The body may be provided with a filtering tube extension disposed within the conductor tube. In a modification, the funnel body 110, Fig. 4, is welded &c., within an opening in a tank B provided with a hinged cover 111 with a packing ring 113, the filling tube 114 having a piercing point 115 and being secured to a bracket 116.
