Bobbins &c.-A bobbin or holder for silk, thread, cord, wool &c. consists of a central wooden or like member a, and relatively large end flanges b of cardboard or similar material which are held in place by means of a metal tube d, the said tube passing through the member a and having its ends riveted over the flanges b or over washers c which surround the tube and contact with the flanges. The ends of the member a are bevelled and the flanges b are given an inward camber so as to withstand the pressure of the thread or other material wound upon the bobbin.
