Nuts and bolts. - A quickaction nut and bolt of the type in which the nut or bolt head can slide freely along the bolt and be engaged thereon by a partial turn on an interrupted thread &c., comprises a removable nut-like head c having three or more equally spaced balls e which partially project into the bore and are held in position by set-screws f, the projecting portions of which balls are adapted to slide in longitudinal grooves b in the bolt-shank a, and can be turned through transverse passages i into engagement with pockets j. The balls e may be replaced by internal projections integral with the nut c, and transverse passages in the bolt may be arranged spirally or as interruped annular grooves.
