Abstract

A wheeled toy has driven road wheels (1) which are coupled to a motor through the intermediary of a gear arrangement (6,7C). To avoid the possibility of damage to the gear arrangement or motor should the toy be pushed or pulled manually, the drive between the motor and the driven wheels (1) is arranged to be disabled when the toy is moved manually along a surface. To achieve this, in an embodiment of the invention the gear arrangement is so arranged that during operation of the motor one gear (6), which is mounted on a shaft (10) movable in an angled slot (11), is urged into driving engagement with another gear (4), and during manual movement of the driven wheels the gears (6,4) are moved relatively out of driving engagement. <IMAGE>
