Abstract

The level 8 of molten metal 2 in the mold 1 of a continuous casting machine is measured by an eddy- current distance measuring device 9, 10 and a noise signal caused by vibration of the liquid level due to oscillation of the mold is eliminated from the output signal of the distance measuring device 10. The system comprises noise signal separation means, such as a bandpass filter 11 having a pass frequency band corresponding to the frequency of mold oscillation and differential amplifier means 13 arranged for generating an output proportional to the difference between the noise signal selected by the separating means 11 and the output signal of the distance measuring device so as to cancel the noise signal component in the output signal. <IMAGE>
