Abstract
Novel platinum co-ordination compounds and two pharmaceutical compositions containing them are provided for use in the treatment of malignant tumours or malignant neoplasms. The novel compounds are of formulae: <IMAGE> or are the corresponding Pt(IV) compounds containing two further ligands Z [in which R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 may be the same or different and are selected from H, straight- or branched-chain alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, aralkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, halogen, pseudohalogen, hydroxy, alkoxy, aryloxy, formyl, nitro, amido, amino, sulphonic acids or salts thereof and carboxylic esters, acids and salts thereof, or two of R5, R6, R7, and R8 may together represent oxygen, or sulphur, X and Y are the same or different ligands and are selected from sulphate, phosphate, nitrate, carboxylate, substituted carboxylate water a halogen or pseudohalogen, and Z is halogen, pseudohalogen or hydroxy].
