Abstract

The new antibiotic, DC-11, is produced by aerobically cultivating Micromonospora sp. KY 11091 (NRRL 11289; FERM-P No. 4458) until the antibiotic has accumulated in the culture medium and then isolating it therefrom. The antibiotic has a M.W. between 1204 and 1476, an empirical formula: C64-72 H90-102 N2 O26-30, and contains L-digitoxose and L-amicetose in its structure. It has anti-bacterial and anti-tumour activity, and may be made up into pharmaceutical compositions of such activity, by admixture with a pharmaceutical excipient.
