Abstract

To increase the "sustain" time of vibration of the strings of an electric guitar, the nut 31 has through- passages 36 for the strings so arranged in relation to a string anchoring means on the guitar body (not shown) and tuning pegs 16-21 on the guitar head 12 that a tensioned string bends twice in passing through the nut. The nut 31 is preferably of brass or aluminium and forms two edges 43, 46 over which the strings bend by at least 10 DEG , preferably 15 DEG . <IMAGE>
