Abstract

A magnetic recording and reproducing device comprising two video tape recording and reproducing parts I and II, each of which has a tape transport system 1 and 2 which passes a tape 11 or 12 over a rotatable head drum 4 or 8 and over a control head 61 or 62. Each tape 11 or 12 is separately driven by a capstan 5 or 9 which transports the tape 11 or 12 in either longitudinal direction over the control head 61 or 62 in connection with which means is provided for recording a vertical interval time code signal and a colour bar on each tape 11 and 12. Control means is provided for transporting the tapes 11 and 12 backward and forward for a selected time interval. The video tape recording and reproducing parts I and II are alternately operated in every one field of the video signal. The tape control system employs an address signal inserted in a video signal so as to transport the tape 11 and 12 rapidly and accurately to a predetermined position. <IMAGE>
