Abstract

A throttle body (10) has a throttle blade (14) positioned in a bore (12), the blade being controlled by the operator or a servosystem to control the amount of air being introduced to the intake manifold. Additionally, and upstream of the throttle blade, there is provided a blade (20) fixedly mounted to a rotatable shaft (22), the shaft being mounted to rotate in the throttle body. A torsion spring (26) is interconnected between the shaft (22) of the blade (20) and the throttle body (10) to establish the amount of resistive force being applied to the blade in response to the degree of opening of the blade. The blade (20) is opened in response to a pressure differential across the blade created in response to opening of the throttle blade (14). One or a plurality of fuel injectors supplying the intake manifold have a pulsed opening duration dependent on manifold pressure and engine speed. <IMAGE>
