Abstract

201,703. Humphry, G. W. June 6, 1922. Wire couplings.-Twisted wire joints are enclosed by an insulating cap, Fig. 1, comprising a closed tubulus 4 of vulcanized rubber united to a pure rubber lining extending to form a coneshaped portion 2 with equi-distant openings or slits through which wires are passed. After jointing this cap is manipulated so that the joint is pulled into the tubulus, the normal set of the pure rubber component securing it and sealing the joint. In a modification, Fig. 2, the external part of the pure rubber element has two aprons 2 slotted longitudinally and these are taken in turn round the wires and over the cap 4, one passing through the slit in the other as shown in B, C, Fig. 2.
