Abstract

A protective helmet comprising a head shell 3, a semi-rigid headband 5 adjustably mounted within the head shell for limited fore and aft movement relatively to the head shell and extending round at least a rear central portion and opposite sides of the inner surface of the shell and chinstrap means 9 secured at opposite ends thereof in relation to the shell, wherein there are provided further strap means 11 so secured in relation to the headband, the head shell and the chinstrap means that, in use of the helmet, on tightening of the further strap means 11 the headband is moved forwardly to secure the head of the wearer relatively to the front of the head shell. <IMAGE>
