Abstract

In an apparatus for controlling the flow of liquid, especially at rates down to 0.5 ml/hr, through a valve (2), the level of liquid in a column (1) is detected by a (photoelectric) sensor (11b, 11b') which is moved along the column at a predetermined rate corresponding to the flow rate desired. A signal, produced whenever the liquid level departs from a position central to the sensor, is used to control the opening and closing of valve (2) to maintain the liquid flow at the desired value. Additional sensors (11a, 11a') and (11c, 11c') cause alarms to be sounded if the liquid level is detected at these extreme positions. <IMAGE>
