Abstract

A process for the preparation of an aqueous dispersion of a water- insoluble azo compound which comprises continuously mixing together, in a reaction zone from which a product stream is continuously removed in the form of a dispersion of the azo compound, a first stream containing a diazotised amine hereinafter referred to as the diazo component and a second stream containing a component capable of reaction ("coupling") with the diazo component under the conditions existing in the reaction zone to form an azo compound, hereinafter referred to as the coupling component, followed by removal, at least in part, from the product stream of any inorganic matter present therein by a membrane separation treatment.
