Abstract

An electronic timepiece has an electro-optic analog display, electro- optical material, e.g., liquid crystal material, being activated in selected areas to change its appearance to simulate movement of hands. Figs. 1, 2 illustrate hours, minutes and seconds indication, while Fig. 3a illustrates calendar data display. Alternatively the calendar display may be digital. The shorter radial lines indicating hours may be widened to indicate P.M. The hub electrodes may be alternately activated and deactivated to warn of low supply voltage. The hour 'hand' may be caused to flash, to indicate the time- setting condition. Polarizers and mirror reflectors may be used with the liquid crystal display. Elapsed time may be indicated. <IMAGE>
