Abstract

The invention provides 1,4- benzodiazepine derivatives of the formula: <IMAGE> in which R1 is hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl, R2 is a straight or branched alkyl of 3 to 10 carbon atoms, R3 is hydrogen or halogen, and R4 is hydrogen, halogen, or nitro. These compounds are useful as sedatives, and anxiolytic and hypnotic agents.
