Abstract
A floppy magnetic data storage disc 34 is rotated within a stationary jacket 36 by means of a rotatable clamp 46, 48 which is opened and closed in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the disc by means of a helical cam 42 which cooperates with a cam follower 40 attached to a part 46 of the clamp. The disc drive assembly 30 is mounted beneath a keyboard 28 (Figure 1) of a serial impact printer, 10 to 28. A lever 44 rotates about the disc axis to move the clamp part 46 perpendicular to the disc and cooperates with a lever 132 (Figure 2) to maintain a magnetic head 64 lifted away from the disc when the clamp 46, 48 is open. On reaching a position at which the disc is clamped, lever 44 actuates a switch 151 whereby a solenoid 146 disengages a lever 144 from a head support arm 140 so that the head 64 is lowered. <IMAGE>
