Abstract
An electronic processing device takes the form of a musical electronic instrument which can be "played" using an input signal such as a human voice. An intelligent data processing system, for example a micro-processor system, within the instrument corrects the pitch of the voice input to the nearest semi-tone (on an "equally tempered" scale). The corrected signal is then amplified and fed to an output loud-speaker. The instrument incorporates operator- controlled means to switch the output up or down by one or more octaves in relation to the corresponding input signal. The data processing system within the machine can be so programmed as to sense the musical key in which an input melody is being played, and make available to the operator a series of chords appropriate for accompanying the melody in that particular musical key. It can also sense when a change of key has occurred, and change the available chords correspondingly. <IMAGE>
